The greatest Christmas gift of all was never placed beneath a tree.

He lay within a manger for the entire world to see.

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

The Christmas season is the time for gifts, love, family gatherings and often lots of food. Decorations of wreaths, angels, santa’s, christmas trees with stars at the top, stars hanging in the windows and standing onto window sills, and advents candles. Starting from the first day in December the children are becoming more excited for every day waiting for the big day. Depending on which country we are from the traditions vary slightly, even the day itself. In Sweden which, is the country which I come from, we have the great family gathering on the 24th in which we eat, watch Donald Duck on tv and in which Santa arrives with the gifts. In the UK  as well as in some other predominantly Christian countries it all happens on the 25th. Morning mass on the 25th is the day when “in the olden days”, when the southern parts of Sweden still had snow on Christmas, sleigh bells were taken out and towns and villages were gathering in a candle lit church to hear the message of the birth of Jesus. As an interior designer I have the advantage to analyse our design choices and tastes as well as gathering from designs from different parts of the world. I think that the christmas season is the season that is the most biblically influenced. It is a time of reflection..
